How do you say “belongs to me” in Hawai’ian?

Ponoʻī

Our Hawaiian word-of-the week is “ponoʻī” which means to own something of your own, it belongs to you.

Say that with me, “ponoʻī”

Nau means “my”

Nau Pono’i means that is mine. It belongs to me, exclusively.

Sign Language (ASL)

The sign language for this is making a fist with your thumb sticking out and pushing it towards your chest. [see video]
