How to say “Happy Father’s Day” in Hawai’ian & ASL

Hau’oli La Makuakane

In this video, Pastor Vicky teaches viewers how to properly say “Happy Father’s Day” in Hawaiian and ASL. In Hawaiian, it is pronounced as “how olē lā makuakāne,” with “how olē” meaning happy and “lā makuakāne” meaning Father’s Day. To sign it in ASL, you would sign “happy” by brushing your chest twice, then sign “day” by placing your left hand on your right hand and mimicking the sun going down, and finally sign “father” by making a letter D or a rooster-like motion. She encourages viewers to practice saying and signing the phrase.
