Christmas Cheer
Christmas is the season of holiday cheer. The world rejoices because to us, a child was given. Christmas is a time that we celebrate our inner child: it’s all about ice skating, presents, feasts, pies with whipped cream…
This is a very special time of year for Christ because the world remembers… the birth of a child. A child who would bring peace on earth.
During this season, the world will press “pause.” The world stops running around. At a certain point, everyone will hurry home from the shopping malls, from their jobs, from their air travel— and sit down for one meal with family and friends… Just. To. Celebrate.
Its the time of year that we read the scriptures… for to us a child is born. To us, a son is given.
It is a time of year that we remember these scriptures, a vision that God once had— that our world would be given a child. A child who would spread joy…
When a child is born, specifically— when you were born, God looked at you, and said, “My son. My daughter. I just had a baby. I think I just had a little nonbinary kid.” And like all fathers, he suddenly had this vision of what his child was going to be like.
God, pondering this new thing he just created, thought, “This is my child. This is what my child will do in this world.”
Then, he breathed. Like a champion. And he knew that he did a great thing.
This is a season of joy. Because the moment you were born, you were an exact replica of God. And he declared unto you that you would spread joy.
Then, he looked at the angels and told them, “I just made another one of myself. Did you see that?”
They all nodded and started singing.
And he said, “Um… yeah…. This will bring peace on earth. A child.”
The angels started shouting, “Glory glory to the highest.” They believed in you. The angels believed.
Christmas is
Christmas is celebrating the child within you.
Christmas is remembering your joy.
Christmas is saying hi to the angels which accompanied you to earth.
Christmas is knowing that you were the child… that was given.
You— with your smile— you bring salvation.
